NVH research is recognized as a very important field for vehicle manufacturers, and has a positive impact on various aspects such as vehicle performance, quality, safety, and competitiveness. The Automotive Applied Acoustics & Vibration Control Lab is conducting NVH-based research. Specifically, noise and vibration test evaluation of machines and vehicles, sound quality-based noise control, monitoring/diagnosis/prediction of vehicle and mechanical system conditions, design of virtual sound generated by vehicles and We are conducting the same research.

Major Research Fields

  • Development of sound quality metrics and subjective hearing evaluation
  • Sound quality model (SQ Index) development and sound design
  • Development of real-time monitoring and diagnosis system for mechanical (vehicle)/electrical/electronic systems
  • Signal processing and pattern recognition
  • Identification of mechanical system dynamics through modal analysis and test
  • MEmotional evaluation of vehicle ride comfort and vibration sources

Research Activities

  • Development of Vehicle Hearing System for vehicle external noise diagnosis, Funded by Hyundai motor. (2023~Present)
  • Development of electric vehicle PE high-frequency noise reduction technology, Funded by Hyundai motor. (2022~Present)
  • Development of noise/vibration signal analysis method for PT/PE main parts abnormal condition monitoring and diagnosis technology development, Funded by Hyundai motor (2021~2022)
